There are two basic types of news:hard news and soft news.
HARD NEWS refers to stories that can't be ignored,including breaking news,current issues and happenings;happenings,and agenda-setting news.It is often breaking news,meaning the story is developing at the same moment it's being reported.
CURRENT ISSUES AND HAPPENINGS refers to current stories of a serious nature,though not necessary breaking or developing at the moment.For example a political race.
AGENDA-SETTING News stories are ones that you ,your colleagues decide your audience should know about,even if the audience may not realize its relevance beforehand.
Now, let's move to SOFT NEWS.
SOFT NEWS refers to a broad range of stories that appeal to the audience because the stories are amusing,entertaining,informative,dramatic,weird or compelling.
